My MIL Secretly DNA-Tested Our Baby to Prove I Cheated — Then I Showed Her What We’d Been Keeping in a Box

My mother-in-law, Linda, never really liked me.
But things got worse after our daughter was born.
Our baby had green eyes, even though my husband and I both have brown eyes.
Linda immediately started making comments.
“Funny how she looks more like your neighbor than my son,” she said.
At first, I ignored her.
Then she started telling relatives I must have cheated.
My husband, Mark, told her to stop.
She refused.
One Sunday, Linda arrived carrying an envelope.
“I finally have proof,” she announced.
Inside was a DNA report she’d ordered using samples collected without our permission.
She pointed at a section suggesting an inconclusive relationship match.
“See? I told you!”
Mark read the report carefully.
Then he started laughing.
“Mom, this doesn’t say what you think it does.”
I went upstairs and brought down a box.
Inside were our daughter’s medical records, family photographs, and results from a properly supervised paternity test Mark and I had voluntarily arranged after Linda’s accusations began.
The test confirmed Mark was our daughter’s biological father.
Then I showed Linda a photograph of Mark’s grandfather as a child.
He had the same green eyes.
Linda stared at it.
She’d forgotten about that photograph completely.
Mark handed her both reports.
“You’re not visiting our daughter again until you apologize to my wife.”
Linda left without another word.
Three days later, she called.
For the first time, she actually apologized.
