A Boss Asked His Employee to Take His Daughter to Prom – But She Told Him, ‘My Dad Didn’t Choose You by Accident. And It Wasn’t for My Sake’

My Boss Asked Me to Take His Daughter to Prom—Then She Showed Me a Text That Changed Everything

At nineteen, I worked for Sheldon, helping my mom support my younger sister. So when my boss asked me to take his eighteen-year-old daughter, Georgia, to prom, I couldn’t afford to refuse.

“Her date backed out,” he explained. “I’ll make it worth your while.”

Georgia barely spoke during the drive. But when we reached the school, she stopped me.

“My dad didn’t pick you by accident.”

Then she showed me his text: “Remember our agreement. Don’t make things too easy for him.”

My stomach dropped.

Georgia admitted Sheldon wanted her to complain, make demands, and see whether I’d lose my temper.

“He’s testing you,” she said. “But I refused to play along.”

We decided to enjoy prom instead. We danced, laughed, and joked about her impossible requests.

Afterward, Georgia explained: Sheldon was opening another warehouse and considering me for manager. Prom had been his test of how I handled pressure.

On Monday, I confronted him.

“You could’ve just talked to me.”

He agreed, apologized, and offered six months of management training, followed by an interview.

Six months later, I earned the job.

When I told Mom, she cried. Georgia gave me our prom photo for my office.

Best—and strangest—job interview ever.
