My MIL Took Our Gender Reveal Balloon Into the Garage to Open It Without Asking – Moments After I Heard It Pop, She Rushed Back Inside, Screaming That She Was Calling the Cops

My mother-in-law, Molly, had always ignored boundaries, but stealing our gender-reveal balloon crossed a line.
Connor and I had planned to discover our first baby’s gender together.
Instead, while we stepped outside for photos, Molly grabbed the balloon, locked herself in the garage, and popped it.
Blue confetti covered her sweater.
That was how I learned we were having a boy.
But Molly came out looking terrified.
Inside the balloon, she had found an old photo of Connor with his ex, Lauren. On the back were seven words:
“Ask Connor what happened on June 14.”
The next morning, I discovered Lauren worked at the party shop.
I confronted her.
She admitted putting the photo inside.
June 14 was the night Connor met me.
The problem? Connor and Lauren hadn’t officially broken up yet. She had asked for space, but Connor met me three days later and then ended their relationship by text.
Worse, Connor admitted he had hidden the truth because he feared I would leave.
“You decided for me,” I told him.
“Yes,” he finally admitted.
Molly apologized for stealing our moment. Lauren apologized for involving me.
Connor and I weren’t magically fixed either.
A week later, he gave me a private do-over with two cupcakes.
The filling was blue.
“This doesn’t fix anything,” I said.
“No,” Connor replied.
“But this moment is ours.”
