My daughter, 7, came home crying. The teacher told her….

My 7-year-old daughter came home crying. Her teacher had told her, “Your dad must regret having you.” I was furious and went straight to confront her.

But instead of apologizing, the teacher calmly asked, “Have you seen what your daughter writes about you?” She handed me a crumpled paper. My heart sank—“I hate my dad” was written over and over again.

That night, I checked her bag… and found a folder full of pages repeating the same words—about me, my wife, even her siblings.

I was devastated.

We love our daughter deeply, so we sought help from a psychologist. After several sessions, we got an unexpected answer: nothing was “wrong.” She was simply expressing emotions in a raw, repetitive way—something creative kids sometimes do when they don’t yet know how to process feelings.

Following the advice, we enrolled her in painting classes.

Everything changed.

She found a healthy outlet. The anger faded, replaced by color, creativity, and confidence.

Today, she’s studying Art in college—and our bond is stronger than ever.

Looking back, what terrified us most… was actually her way of reaching out.

Sometimes, children don’t need fixing—just understanding and a way to express what they feel.
