My 16-Year-Old Daughter Stayed up All Night Sewing a Dress for Her Classmate – The Next Morning, the Girl’s Mother Asked, ‘Do You Know Why She Really Did It?’

My 16-year-old daughter stayed up for three nights sewing a beautiful dress for a classmate named Annie.
She even gave Annie the blue cardigan her late father had given her—the one she wore to his funeral.
I thought it was an incredible act of kindness.
Then Annie’s mother showed up at my door at 6 a.m. carrying a flash drive.
The video on it shattered me.
It showed Lily and several girls bullying Annie, laughing at her clothes, dumping out her bag, and mocking her mother for cleaning offices.
When I ran upstairs to confront Lily, her bed was empty and her window was open.
We found her at the train station with a duffel bag, ready to leave.
Through tears, Lily finally confessed.
She and Annie had once been best friends. When Annie admitted she liked Lily as more than a friend, Lily panicked. Afraid the other girls would turn against her, she joined them in bullying Annie.
Then came another shock.
Two years earlier, when Lily’s father Daniel collapsed outside an office building, Annie and her mother had found him and stayed with him until the ambulance arrived.
Daniel hadn’t died alone.
Lily learned the truth only days earlier.
The dress and cardigan were her desperate attempt to apologize.
Annie returned the cardigan and told Lily, “Forgiving you doesn’t erase what happened.”
I hugged my daughter.
She couldn’t undo what she’d done.
But she could stay, face it, and make things right.
