The Night My Family Took Me Away From Grandma Forever

When I was young, summer meant staying at Grandma Evelyn’s farmhouse. I loved feeding her chickens, helping in the garden, and listening to her stories before bed.

Then, one evening, everything changed.

My parents, two uncles, and Grandma gathered in the kitchen. They told me to stay inside my room with the door closed because they had an important “grown-up matter” to discuss.

Through the wall, I heard shouting. My father accused Grandma of betraying the family, while she repeatedly begged them to listen.

The following morning, we packed our belongings and left without saying goodbye.
