My Teen Daughter’s Teacher Called Me About Something Hidden in Her Locker – What I Found Inside Changed Everything I Thought I Knew About Her

After losing my 13-year-old daughter Lily to a long illness, I stopped living. I kept her room untouched, ignored calls, and barely made it through each day. Then one morning, her school called and told me she had left something in her locker for me.
Inside was a note in Lily’s handwriting and a key to a small storage unit.
When I opened it, I found boxes carefully labeled with my name. Inside were letters, recordings, photos, journals, and instructions for the days she knew I’d struggle the most.
“Open when you can’t get out of bed.”
“Open when you forget my voice.”
“Open on your birthday.”
She had prepared everything months before she died.
One box contained meal plans and reminders to take care of myself. Another listed people I should call when I felt alone. There were photos I had forgotten existed, and journals where Lily admitted she knew she wasn’t getting better long before I accepted it.
Then I watched the final video she recorded for me.
She told me not to stop living after she was gone. She asked me to volunteer at her school library and help lonely kids the way I had helped her.
The next morning, for the first time in weeks, I got out of bed.
