Packages for Another Woman Kept Arriving at My House — Then I Caught My Husband at the Post Office

My husband, Brian, and I have been married for twelve years.
We live in a small town where everyone seems to know everyone.
A few weeks ago, packages started arriving at our house addressed to a woman named Carla.
I didn’t recognize the name.
When I asked Brian, he said the delivery company had probably mixed up the address.
I believed him.
Then more packages arrived.
Strangely, they always disappeared before I could return them.
One morning, I went to the post office to ask about the deliveries.
That’s when I saw Brian standing in line with one of the boxes.
I stayed near the entrance.
A young woman approached him, and he handed her the package.
Then I heard him say, “Please don’t tell my wife yet.”
I walked straight over.
“Tell me what?”
Brian looked terrified.
The woman stared at me, then quietly said, “I’m Carla.”
I asked who she was.
Brian took a deep breath.
“She’s my daughter.”
Apparently, he’d dated her mother years before we met. Carla had only recently found him after her mother passed away.
He’d been meeting her secretly for six weeks.
The packages were going to our address because things kept getting stolen at her apartment building.
I wasn’t angry that he had a daughter.
I was angry that he’d hidden something this important from me.
That evening, Brian finally told me everything.
And the following Sunday, Carla came over for dinner.
