Katie Zacharia’s White House Career Ends After Only 5 Days — Trump’s 6-Word Remark Draws Attention

Katie Zacharia’s time as White House press secretary ended almost as quickly as it began. Appointed by President Donald Trump on October 9, 2026, she started work October 12 and was out just five days later.

Her only press briefing lasted about 14 minutes and included questions from just three reporters. Soon afterward, attention shifted to her legal credentials. Although Zacharia graduated from Pepperdine law school and had described herself as a lawyer, she acknowledged she had failed California’s bar exam and never retaken it.

Her attempts to address the controversy during television interviews drew additional criticism, while social media users mocked her unusually short tenure.

On October 16, Trump said he had encouraged Zacharia to reconsider the demanding role amid harsh media coverage, reportedly telling her, “I don’t think you need this.”

Despite the abrupt departure, Zacharia publicly thanked Trump and continued expressing support for him.
