Found Updated Nancy Guthrie Case: Sheriff Dismisses New Ransom Note as Not Credible

Investigators searching for Nancy Guthrie have determined that a newly reported ransom message connected to her disappearance was not credible. The 84-year-old mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie disappeared from her home near Tucson after returning there on January 31. Authorities believe she was taken during the early hours of February 1.

The latest communication, discovered in late September, was reportedly sent as a text message. After reviewing it, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department concluded it was not a legitimate lead and warned the public about possible scams.

Earlier alleged ransom messages included demands for millions in bitcoin and references to details inside Nancy’s home. Another claimed she had died, though authorities did not confirm that claim.

No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains active as Nancy’s family continues seeking answers.
