I Let My Friend Drive My 10-Year-Old Daughter to Summer Camp – A Few Hours Later, the Camp Administrator Called and Said, ‘I Think You Need to Come Here. It’s About the Man Who Brought Her’

I’m a single mom and a nurse, so when work called me in early, my trusted friend Owen offered to drive my 10-year-old daughter Greta to summer camp.
An hour later, the camp administrator called.
“Greta is safe, but you need to come. It’s about the man who brought her.”
My heart stopped.
When I arrived, Owen was sitting beside Greta, who had clearly been crying.
The administrator explained that Owen had shown staff screenshots proving several girls had been bullying Greta for weeks. He asked them to separate the girls—and asked them not to call me yet because Greta begged him not to.
I was furious he had hidden it from me.
Then another mother arrived.
She showed us something Greta had hidden from Owen: an embarrassing photo of her daughter that Greta had sent to classmates with a cruel caption.
Greta admitted it.
“I wanted her to know what it felt like.”
Suddenly, nobody was completely innocent.
The camp separated the girls, monitored them closely, and both families agreed to consequences.
I asked Greta one question:
“If those girls weren’t here, would you still want to stay?”
“Yes.”
So she stayed.
Two weeks later, she came home smiling, talking nonstop about canoeing and camp.
Then she quietly said, “Next time, I’ll tell you.”
I squeezed her knee.
“Good.”
