My husband hated that our intimidating biker neighbor walked our seven-year-old daughter home from school. I trusted Travis completely—until Emma’s teacher called and said, “Come here right now. It’s about the man who picks her up.”

Travis had known my family for years. When my work schedule changed, he offered to pick Emma up after school. Everything was officially approved, and Emma loved their walks.

My husband, Ryan, never did.

One afternoon, I rushed to school and found Emma, Travis, and Ryan’s sister Melissa in the principal’s office. Melissa claimed Ryan had told her we no longer wanted Travis picking Emma up.

I had agreed to no such thing.
