Arizona authorities have announced a major development in the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of television journalist Savannah Guthrie.
Law enforcement officials say they have identified a person who may be connected to the suspected abduction. Although investigators described the discovery as an important step, they stressed that the case remains active and no final conclusions have been reached.
Detectives are continuing to review surveillance video, forensic evidence, digital records, and witness statements as they work to determine the individual’s possible involvement.
Authorities have not released the person’s identity, explaining that doing so could interfere with the investigation or compromise future legal action.
Officials also emphasized that being named a person of interest does not mean the individual has been charged or found guilty. Investigators said all evidence must be carefully examined before prosecutors can consider any formal charges or additional legal steps in the case.
