I Caught MIL Doing My ‘Wifely Duties’ in Our Living Room – The Extreme Measure I Took Next Has Everyone Calling Me a Villain

I spent the entire day cooking, cleaning, and serving 14 members of my husband Eli’s family during a World Cup gathering. Nobody offered to help. Eli occasionally praised me, but whenever I said I was overwhelmed, he gave sympathy instead of assistance.
After washing mountains of dishes, I entered the living room and froze. Eli was stretched across the couch while his mother, Gladys, rubbed lotion into his bare feet.
When I pointed out that I had been standing since sunrise, Gladys claimed someone needed to care for her hardworking son. She criticized my cooking, called me a bad wife, and suggested I had neglected my “wifely duties.”
Eli remained silent.
Then I noticed the livestream still running. More than 50 relatives had witnessed everything.
Phones began buzzing as viewers condemned Gladys. Even her own mother commented, “The camera didn’t make Gladys say those things. It simply made sure everyone heard them.”
Other women then shared similar stories of Gladys humiliating them at family gatherings.
Eli finally realized how often he had dismissed my complaints. He apologized, stood beside me, and ordered everyone to help clean.
Later, Gladys demanded an apology. Eli replied, “I’m choosing my marriage.”
The family created new rules: everyone would bring food, help serve, and clean.
I finally understood that respect was not something I had to earn through exhaustion and silence. It was the minimum I deserved.
