My Husband Threw My Phone in the Pool — What I Did Next Changed Everything

My husband is a successful surgeon, but at home, he can act like a spoiled child. Yesterday, after I beat him at Scrabble, he grabbed my phone and threw it into the pool.
This time, I didn’t argue. I quietly reached for my journal.
It wasn’t the first time he had overreacted to something small. Usually, I would yell, and we would spend hours fighting. But I had learned that arguments changed nothing.
So I began writing everything down—not to punish him, but to remind myself of the truth whenever he dismissed his behavior. My journal became a record of the moments that hurt, as well as the good memories we had shared.
That evening, I read through the pages. I remembered our anniversary trips, the nights we laughed until sunrise, and the times he supported me through difficult moments.
Our marriage wasn’t simply good or bad. It was complicated.
The real problem wasn’t only the ruined phone. It was about respect, communication, and whether we still brought out the best in each other.
When he returned, looking embarrassed, I handed him the journal.
“This is how I’ve been feeling,” I said. “Read it, and then we need to decide what happens next.”
For once, he didn’t argue or make excuses. He sat down and began reading.
It didn’t solve everything, but it opened the door to honesty—and perhaps saved our marriage.
