The Unexpected Meeting with My First Love’s Wife..

When I was in school, I dated a boy named Mike. We were very close, but our relationship ended when my family moved to another city. At first, we stayed in touch through letters and messages, but over time the conversations faded, and eventually we lost contact completely.
Many years later, I returned to my hometown for a visit. While spending time with an old friend, she asked if I wanted to see who Mike had married. Curious, I agreed.
We stopped by a local grocery store where his wife worked as a cashier. To my surprise, the moment she saw me, she seemed to recognize me. After a brief pause, she asked, “Are you Olivia?”
When I confirmed it, she smiled and explained that Mike still kept many of my old photographs and even a bag filled with the letters I had written him years earlier. Hearing that left me completely embarrassed and unsure of what to say.
I quickly explained that I was only visiting town and would be leaving soon. She wished me well, and our conversation ended politely.
As I walked away, I couldn’t help noticing the sense of relief on her face.
That encounter stayed with me. It reminded me that while people move forward, some memories are never fully erased. Life changes, relationships end, and new chapters begin, but certain pieces of the past can remain tucked away for years, quietly reminding us of who we once were.
