My husband’s betrayal shattered my heart —

When I was seven months pregnant, I discovered my husband was cheating. The messages on his phone shattered me. I remember sitting on the bed crying, one hand on my stomach while my baby kicked, completely unaware that my world was collapsing.

I wanted a divorce immediately. But my father came to sit beside me and urged me to wait until after the baby was born. Then he confessed something shocking — he claimed he had cheated on my mother while she was pregnant too, calling it meaningless and blaming “male physiology.”

I could barely process his words. I was emotionally destroyed, my health was unstable, and the stress already affected my pregnancy. So I stayed, not because I forgave my husband, but because I didn’t have the strength to survive heartbreak and pregnancy at the same time.

Months later, after my son was born, my father stood beside my hospital bed and finally told me the truth.

He had never cheated on my mother.

He lied because he feared the stress of divorce would harm me or the baby. He wanted me calm until my son arrived safely.

His lie hurt me, but in a strange way, it may have been the most protective act of love he could give.
