My DIL Disrespected Me, but My Son’s Reaction Was the Real Shock

For my son’s wedding, I wore an elegant white dress. I didn’t think much of it—until my DIL saw me. Her face turned red with anger.

“It’s not your day!” she shouted in front of everyone.

I felt humiliated. My son said nothing.

But everything changed at the altar.

When the officiant asked if he would take her as his wife… he hesitated.

Then he said, “No.”

Silence filled the room.

“I love you,” he told her, “but I can’t start our marriage like this—with all this tension.”

The wedding was canceled. Guests left in shock. Thousands were wasted.

They didn’t break up. He suggested a private ceremony instead.

But I’m still left with that moment—being yelled at, feeling disrespected, and not knowing where I stand.

I never meant to overshadow her. I just wanted to be part of my son’s big day.

Now everything feels broken.

My son is stuck in the middle. I don’t want to lose him… but I also don’t want to be treated like an enemy.

And I honestly don’t know how to fix this.
