FEMA Boss Fired After Remarks To Congres

The now-fired acting head of FEMA, Cameron Hamilton, was dismissed by DHS officials after defending the agency’s Biden-era disaster responses and contradicting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s statements on possibly eliminating FEMA. Hamilton, a former Navy SEAL, was let go by Deputy DHS Secretary Troy Edgar and Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski, a day after his House testimony opposing FEMA’s

dissolution. David Richardson replaced him. The firing follows Trump’s criticism of FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene and the dismissal of four FEMA officials for misallocating $59M to house illegal immigrants in luxury NYC hotels, as reported by Elon Musk on X. Trump plans to reform or eliminate FEMA, favoring state-led disaster responses for efficiency and cost.
