Steve Harvey is moved to tears on his show by his son’s words about how much he means to him
Ever envied a celebrity’s perfect life? Many do, but few realize the hard work behind the fame. Take Steve Harvey, now a beloved comedian and TV host. Growing up, his coal-miner father couldn’t afford much. Harvey worked various jobs—mailman, carpet cleaner, even boxer. He started doing stand-up comedy but sent most of his earnings to his ex-wife for their kids, leaving him homeless for three years, living in his car and showering at gas stations.
His big break came in 1990 when he reached the finals of the “Johnnie Walker National Comedy Search,” leading to his role hosting “Showtime at the Apollo.” Married three times, Harvey has seven children, including three adopted from his wife, Marjorie. On his show, his kids called him their role model. His son Jason’s heartfelt words, thanking Harvey for stepping in as a father, moved him to tears. Marjorie also praised his love and dedication. Overwhelmed, Harvey said, “I got four full-time jobs for them… I will defend your honor until I die. This is the greatest moment I’ve ever had.”
