The Mystery of the Penny in the Door Handle

I left my car in the parking lot today. When I got back, I saw a penny lodged in the passenger’s door handle. It seemed strange. What does it mean? At first, I thought it might be a prank or an accident—maybe a child playing nearby dropped it. But the way it was wedged in there felt intentional. Could it be a sign or superstition? Some believe finding a penny brings luck, though I’ve never heard of one stuck in a door handle as a good omen.
I checked the car for damage or other oddities, but everything else seemed fine. No scratches, no notes, just the penny. It made me wonder if someone tried to signal something—perhaps a warning or a marker. In some cultures, coins left in odd places are thought to ward off evil or mark territory, but that feels like a stretch for a busy parking lot.
After removing the penny, I kept it, half-expecting it to mean something later. I asked a few friends, and one suggested it could be a thief’s trick to test if the car was locked—though nothing was missing. For now, it remains a curious mystery. I’ll keep an eye out next time I park. What do you think it means?
