My Husband Didn’t Pick Me and Our Newborn Up from the Hospital — When I Found Out Why, I Went Pale

When I gave birth to my son Theo, I expected joy, but my husband Gideon’s betrayal crushed me. After a tough pregnancy, I was thrilled to bring Theo home, imagining Gideon’s proud smile. But on discharge day, he didn’t show up. Hours passed with no word, and my worry turned to shock when he texted: he was late because he was shopping for sneakers at a mall sale. Devastated, I accepted a nurse’s offer to drive us home. There, Gideon sat smugly with his new shoes, clueless about my pain. Furious, I packed a bag and left for my sister’s, needing space to process his priorities.

For a week, I ignored Gideon’s frantic apologies. He showed up daily, looking broken, and I finally agreed to talk. He was remorseful, promising therapy and change. I gave him one chance, assigning him full-time baby duty to prove himself. For two weeks, he struggled with diapers and feedings but didn’t quit. One night, exhausted and tearful, he apologized sincerely, realizing his mistake. I forgave him, and Gideon transformed into a devoted father and husband, never missing a moment with us again.
