Our Meddling Neighbor Got Our Cars Towed from Our Own Driveway

She Paid a Great Price in Return

Jack and I moved into our rental, and the next day, Lindsey, our neighbor, brought cookies. Her cheery intro turned into a lecture about the HOA’s “one car per driveway” rule. Our two cars fit fine, but she insisted it applied to us, temporary tenants or not.

We brushed it off. Three days later, tow trucks hauled both cars away. Lindsey watched smugly from her porch. I argued with the drivers, but they cited the HOA.

Then I pointed out a discreet sticker on my car—a sign she didn’t expect. Her face fell. That night, I called the authorities. By morning, a federal agent was at Lindsey’s door.
