My wife lost her memory — but my boss knew her secret past

When I met Zoe, she had no memory of her past—just the knowledge she had survived a car crash eight years earlier. Despite doctors’ efforts, her memory never returned, so she started life anew. We grew close, fell in love, and eventually married. Zoe even became a successful author.

Everything felt perfect—until a company party changed everything.

My new boss, Michael, stared at Zoe in shock when we arrived. “Stella?” he asked, claiming they’d been searching for her for eight years. Zoe looked confused, but I later overheard her pleading with him: “Please, don’t tell anyone you’ve found me. I’ve started over.”

That’s when I knew—Zoe had regained her memory.

She admitted it returned two years ago but she had been too afraid to tell me. Her past involved an abusive ex who left her to die after the crash. Michael confirmed the story.

Though I felt betrayed, I still loved her. Zoe wasn’t hiding from me—she was protecting herself from a painful past. I chose to stand by her, to shield her from the life she had escaped.

Together, we began a new chapter—again.
