My Best Friend Told Me to Stop Posting Photos with My Husband – When I Asked Why, She Said, ‘See What He Sent Me After the Party

My best friend asked me to stop posting photos with my husband. Ten minutes later, she showed me the secret he’d been keeping for weeks.
The morning after a party, I posted pictures of Nathan and me laughing and hugging.
Then Helen texted:
“Please stop posting pictures like that with Nathan.”
When I demanded an explanation, she handed me her phone.
Nathan had been messaging her for weeks, asking whether I’d ever move overseas, quit my job, or consider changing my life.
Then I saw the message he’d sent after the party:
“I signed tonight. Start date is October 1. Please don’t tell her.”
Signed what?
A two-year job contract in Singapore.
My husband had accepted a position across the world without telling me.
Worse, he’d already told the company I would probably relocate with him—and had secretly arranged a rental estimate for our house.
When I confronted him, he admitted he was afraid I’d say no.
“You made the decision before I even got a vote,” I said.
Then I told him something he never expected:
Three months earlier, my company had offered a possible transfer to Singapore too.
I hadn’t applied because I thought decisions like that were something married couples made together.
The problem wasn’t Singapore anymore.
It was whether I could trust a husband who planned our future without me.
Five weeks later, he finally asked:
“Would you consider moving to Singapore with me?”
This time, I had something I should’ve had from the beginning.
A choice.
