At My Husband’s Funeral, I Opened His Casket to Place a Flower — and Found a Crumpled Note Tucked Under His Hands

I was 55 and newly widowed after 36 years of marriage when I found a note hidden beneath my husband Greg’s hands at his funeral.
It read: “Even though we could never be together the way we deserved… my kids and I will love you forever.”
Greg and I never had children.
Shaken, I checked the chapel’s security footage and saw Susan, a woman who worked with Greg, secretly place the note in his casket. When I confronted her, she claimed Greg had fathered her two children.
I was devastated.
After the funeral, I searched Greg’s journals, expecting to uncover a secret life. Instead, every page was filled with our marriage, our struggles, and his love for me. Then I found entries about Susan. Greg had ended business with her company because of serious problems, but chose not to sue because she had two children.
That changed everything.
Greg’s friend helped investigate. Susan’s own husband confronted her, and she finally admitted the truth: Greg was not the father of her children. She had invented the affair because she blamed him for destroying her business and wanted to hurt me.
My grief had been turned into revenge.
But Greg’s journals gave me back the truth: our marriage was real, and he had loved me all along until his final day, too.
