I Thought Our Anniversary Dinner Would Be a Proposal – But My Boyfriend Ended Up Embarrassing Me in the Worst Way

I spent three years loving a man I thought I’d eventually marry. So when he planned a fancy anniversary dinner and hinted about a “special surprise,” I honestly believed he was about to propose.
Instead, he humiliated me in front of an entire restaurant.
A little background: I had recently lost a promotion at work despite working nonstop for it. I even trained the guy who got the position instead. Quietly, I later learned management assumed I’d probably “get married and have a baby soon,” making me a bad investment.
I told my boyfriend how devastated I felt.
So imagine my shock when dessert arrived at dinner with pink icing that read:
“Congrats on Your Promotion!”
I froze.
The waiter congratulated me while my boyfriend laughed and called it a “manifestation joke.” Then he admitted something even worse:
“I figured this was the only way you’d hear congratulations.”
That was the moment I realized he didn’t support me. He enjoyed embarrassing me.
So a few days later, I invited him over for a “surprise.”
When he walked in, he found black balloons, a cake, and a giant banner that read:
“Congrats on Becoming Bald!”
I smiled sweetly and said:
“Just manifesting it early.”
His friends laughed. He stormed out.
And honestly? It was the best closure I could’ve asked for.
