I Was Denied My Days Off, So I Beat HR at Their Own Game

I worked 3 years straight without a single day off, so I finally asked to take my full 90 days of leave.

HR shut me down immediately. “That’s too long. If you’re this lazy, find another job.” They also said I couldn’t disappear during the busiest season.

So I smiled and said, “Fine—I’ll just work 2 days a week until the end of the year.”

Everyone laughed, thinking I’d give in.

What they didn’t know? I had already started applying to other companies. My plan was to use my vacation days for interviews… then quit right before December—when things get chaotic.

No notice. No guilt.

But now I’m starting to question myself.

Am I being petty for wanting to leave like this after everything I gave? Or is it wrong for a company to decide when you’re “allowed” to rest?

I gave them 3 years of loyalty without a break.

Now I’m wondering if I owe them anything at all.
