After I Gave Birth & My Husband Saw the Face of Our Baby, He Began Sneaking Out Every Night – So I Followed Him

After our parents died in a house fire, my six-year-old twin brothers were all I had left. I became their guardian, and my fiancé, Mark, loved them as if they were his own. But his mother, Joyce, hated them from the start.
She called them “baggage” and “charity cases,” ignored them at family gatherings, and made cruel comments about Mark needing “real children.” Still, I never imagined how far she would go.
One day, while I was away on a work trip, Joyce came over with “gifts” for the boys: two packed suitcases. Then she told them they would soon be sent to live with another family because they didn’t belong with us. My brothers were hysterical when I got home, begging me not to send them away.
That was the moment everything changed.
Mark and I invited Joyce to a special birthday dinner and pretended to announce we were “giving the boys up.” She immediately celebrated, saying we were finally doing the right thing.
Then Mark told her the truth: the boys were staying, and she was the one leaving our lives.
He placed the suitcases on the table, handed her a letter removing her from our emergency contacts, and told her she would not be part of our family unless she got therapy and apologized to the boys.
Now we’re filing adoption papers.
And every night, I tell my brothers the same thing: “Forever and ever.”
