My Daughter ‘Went to School’ Every Morning – Then Her Teacher Called and Said She’d Been Skipping for a Whole Week, So I Followed Her the Next Morning

When Emily’s teacher told me she hadn’t been in class all week, I was stunned — I watched my daughter leave for school every morning. So the next day, I followed her.

I watched her get on the bus, then followed it to school. But instead of going inside, she stepped off and got into an old pickup truck. My heart stopped. When the truck pulled away, I drove after them.

They headed toward the lake and parked in a quiet gravel lot. I rushed up to the truck — and froze when I saw the driver.

It was her father, Mark.

Emily admitted she’d asked him to pick her up because she couldn’t face school anymore. The other girls were bullying her — whispering, excluding her, and making her feel invisible. She’d been throwing up every morning from the stress but didn’t tell me because she knew I’d confront the school and make things worse.

Mark thought giving her a few days away would help while they documented everything for a formal complaint.

We went to the school together that day. Emily told the counselor everything, and action was taken immediately. Her schedule was changed, and the girls involved faced disciplinary warnings.

By the end of the week, things weren’t perfect — but they were better.

More importantly, we started communicating honestly again, realizing that whatever Emily faced, we needed to face it together.
