I Came Home with My Newborn Twins to Find the Locks Changed, My Stuff Thrown Out, and a Note Waiting for Me

After giving birth to my twin daughters, I thought my husband would choose us over his mother—but he didn’t. Instead, I got a hurried call: Derek couldn’t pick us up from the hospital because his mother was suddenly “sick.”

I grabbed a taxi, expecting to find a worried mother-in-law or a minor emergency. Instead, I arrived home to a front yard scattered with our belongings and a note taped to my suitcase: “Get out of here with your little moochers! I know everything. Derek.”

Panic set in. Derek didn’t answer, so I called my mom, who rushed over. Together, we discovered the truth: Derek’s mother, Lorraine, had faked an illness, bribed a nurse, and locked us out—just because our daughters weren’t boys.

Rage and disbelief consumed me. I drove to the hospital, confronted Derek, and told him everything. Shock turned to fury on his face. He immediately drove home with me, and this time he confronted Lorraine.

“Pack your things and leave,” he said firmly. “Jenna is my wife. Those are my daughters. If you can’t respect them, you’re not part of our lives.”

Lorraine left that night. Derek changed the locks, blocked her, and reported the bribed nurse. Months later, as I rocked Ella and Sophie to sleep, I realized her attempt to destroy us had only made our family stronger.
