An active shooter incident occurred Thursday morning at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, just north of Detroit, causing panic across the campus. The situation began around 7:08 a.m. when shots were reported in the hospital’s parking garage, triggering an immediate lockdown and emergency response.

Authorities confirmed the suspect was a hospital employee who targeted a 25-year-old coworker, shooting him twice in the arm. The victim was quickly treated and is now in stable condition, expected to recover.

Law enforcement responded rapidly, securing the area and arresting the suspect without further incident. The motive remains unclear as investigations continue.

The incident temporarily disrupted hospital operations, with patients and staff placed under lockdown for safety. It has also raised serious concerns about workplace security in healthcare environments.

Hospital officials are now reviewing safety protocols to help prevent future incidents and ensure a safer environment for staff and patients.
