A Stranger Saved Me That Night

It was 2 a.m., and I was alone in a taxi, my nerves already on edge. The driver kept staring at me through the mirror, repeating, “A girl like you shouldn’t be out this late.” His tone made my skin crawl, and I felt trapped.
We stopped at a red light. Suddenly, a man from the car beside us stepped out and walked over. My heart froze as he opened my door and said, “There you are, sis! I’ve been following you—you left your phone at the bar.”
I had never seen him before.
But something in his eyes told me to trust him. I took the phone he offered—his own—and stepped out of the taxi. Within seconds, the driver sped away.
My hands were shaking as I gave the phone back. “How did you know?” I asked.
He paused, then said quietly, “My sister once called me from a cab like that. I was too far away to help her. I promised I’d never let that happen again.”
He stayed with me until my ride arrived, asking for nothing in return.
Some people say guardian angels have wings. Mine showed up in a random car, at the exact moment I needed help—and reminded me that kindness still exists when it matters most.
