My Friend Mocked Me for Being ‘Cheap’—But Karma Hit Back Fast

Last weekend, a group of us went out to dinner. It wasn’t fancy, but it wasn’t cheap either. While everyone ordered cocktails, steak, and desserts, I kept it simple—pasta and one drink.
When the check came, I suggested we each pay for what we ordered. Before anyone could respond, Lisa rolled her eyes. “You’re always so cheap,” she said loudly. “If you can’t afford to eat out, maybe you shouldn’t come.”
I was humiliated. I paid evenly like everyone else and let it go—at least outwardly.
A week later, Lisa invited us to her birthday dinner at an overpriced rooftop restaurant. She ordered extravagantly—drinks, appetizers, the most expensive entrée, dessert. I kept my order modest again.
When the bill arrived, she suddenly “forgot” her wallet.
The table went silent.
I calmly placed my card down. “I’ll pay for myself. Just myself.”
One by one, everyone followed suit.
No speeches. No confrontation. Just quiet boundaries.
Lisa was left staring at her towering bill. Her face flushed as she reluctantly paid. Now she claims I embarrassed her and made her look bad.
The truth? She managed that all on her own.
