Apple Cider Vinegar: An Overnight Hair Hack

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is celebrated for balancing scalp pH, removing buildup, fighting dandruff, and adding shine to hair. I tested leaving diluted ACV in my hair overnight to see its effects.

My Process:

I mixed raw, unfiltered ACV with water (1:1 ratio), did a patch test, and sprayed it evenly on my hair and scalp. After massaging it in, I covered my hair with a shower cap, protected my pillow with a towel, and slept.

Results:
In the morning, my hair had a faint vinegar smell but wasn’t sticky. After rinsing and shampooing, my hair was softer, smoother, and shinier with less frizz. My scalp felt clean, less itchy, and free of flakiness, indicating balanced pH. While long-term growth benefits are unclear, my hair felt refreshed.

Cautions:
ACV’s acidity can irritate if undiluted or overused. Always do a patch test, especially with sensitive skin, and follow with conditioner to prevent dryness.

Verdict:
Compared to chemical-heavy treatments, ACV is a natural, affordable way to enhance shine and scalp health. Used moderately, it’s a worthy addition to your hair care routine.
