A weary-looking old dog wandered into a man’s yard. From his collar and well-fed belly, it was clear he had a home and was well cared for.
The dog calmly approached, and the man gave him a pat on the head. Then, the dog followed him inside, slowly padded down the hallway, curled up in a corner, and fell asleep.
An hour later, he went to the door, and the man let him out. The next day, the same thing happened. For weeks, the dog returned almost daily, greeting the man, heading inside, and napping in the same spot.
One day, curious about the visits, the man attached a note to the dog’s collar: “I’d love to know who owns this sweet dog. Are you aware that nearly every afternoon he comes to my house for a nap?”
The following day, the dog showed up again—with a new note on his collar: “He lives in a house with six kids, two under three. He’s just trying to catch up on sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?”
