Conjoined twins separated after 7-hour surgery – This is them today
Anna Grace and Hope Elizabeth Richards, conjoined twins born December 29, 2016, were separated during a seven-hour surgery on January 13, 2018, at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Sharing a liver, diaphragm, and part of their heart, the twins underwent a prior surgery on November 6, 2017, to insert tissue expanders. A team of 75 medical professionals across eight specialties performed the complex separation. “It’s indescribable to see our girls in separate beds,” said their mother, Jill Richards. Dr. Larry Hollier credited the success to extensive planning and teamwork. After 18 months in the hospital, the girls are now thriving at home.
