The Transformative Power of Kindness

My daughter found a velvet pouch and a note in my grandmother’s cardigan pocket, written in her delicate script: “For when you need me most. —Grandma, love.” Inside was a gold locket with two photos: one of baby-me in her arms, the other of her warm smile. Tears fell as I recalled dismissing this gift years ago, unaware of its hidden treasure. I pictured Grandma saving for weeks, knitting late despite aching fingers, to create something heartfelt. My daughter clasped the locket to her chest, whispering, “She must have really loved you.” I nodded, vowing to cherish the cardigan and its lesson: true treasures aren’t flashy—they’re hidden in simple things, waiting to be valued.
