My Stepmom Broke My New TV After I Said We Couldn’t Afford Buying Her One – But Karma Was Listening

At 23, I lived in a modest apartment, working a low-paying marketing job. After losing my mom to cancer at 15, my dad was my rock, but two years ago, he married Patricia. She seemed fine, though we only met occasionally. I’d saved over a year for a 43-inch smart TV, a proud achievement. When Patricia saw it during a visit, she fixated on it, hinting I should help buy them one. I refused, explaining my tight budget, which she called “ungrateful.”

Two weeks later, while I was at work, Patricia used my spare key to enter my apartment, claiming she was dropping off mail. I returned to find my TV’s screen shattered, clearly intentional. She claimed it was an accident from dusting, but the damage was too severe. My dad believed her, dismissing my concerns, and Patricia spread lies to our family, painting me as hostile.

A month later, Dad called, frustrated. Their washing machine, left running with the door open by Patricia while she multitasked, flooded their home, ruining floors, walls, and possessions. Insurance wouldn’t cover it, forcing Patricia to spend her savings—three times my TV’s cost—on repairs. Looking at my broken TV, I smiled. Karma had balanced the scales.
