Man Mocks His Wife for Being Unemployed – Until She Leaves and Takes Everything with Her

On a crisp October morning, I was set to present a gaming app I’d worked on for months, chasing a big paycheck. Distracted by emails, I ignored my wife Sara and our boys, Cody and Sonny, at breakfast. Frustrated, I snapped at Sara for not washing my lucky shirt, unleashing my stress on her. She tried to calm me, but I stormed off to work.

I aced the presentation but returned to an empty home and a note from Sara: “I want a divorce.” Panicked, I learned she was hospitalized from stress and exhaustion, partly due to my anger. At the hospital, she was resolute about divorce and left the kids with me temporarily.

Months later, the house felt emptier—her belongings gone. I struggled with work and parenting, losing my shot at a promotion. Sara eventually sought custody, and in court, she revealed how my constant anger and absence broke her. The judge granted her custody.

Now, every Sunday, as I send the boys to Sara, Cody’s question about our family stings. I chased success but lost what mattered most—being present. The silence in my home echoes my regret.
