The classroom was quiet as the teacher wrote a math problem on the board. “If you had eleven dollars and I borrowed six, how much would you have left?” she asked.
Little Johnny leaned back and said, “Eleven dollars.”
The teacher raised an eyebrow. “Think carefully, Johnny.”
“Still eleven,” he replied.
“Why’s that?” she asked, amused.
“Because I wouldn’t give you the money!” Johnny smirked.
The class burst into laughter. The teacher chuckled, “Your math’s off, but your instincts are sharp.” Johnny grinned as she moved on, noting not to borrow from him.
